The last Saturday in April
Good people, cool music, hot bikes, and a
GREAT TIME.
Leading the pack will be nine-time NFL Pro-Bowl player
from the Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears RUBEN BROWN!
This page contains
FOUR SECTIONS:
-
Biker Events
-
Biker Cruise Nights
-
Online Bike Event Calendars
-
Hard-copy Biker
Event Calendars
The Biker Events and Biker
Cruise Nights sections contain detailed information
on specific biker events and weekly cruises for the Buffalo & Western NY area.
The Online Biker Event Calendars section was created because
selected organizations (The Hog Farm, Hard
Tales Magazine, ABATE, Gowanda Harley, etc.) already do such a GREAT job putting together Event
Calendars on their web sites. So, the folks here at
Cyberspokes decided... Why reinvent the wheel? Instead, let's pool all of
these resources together into ONE CENTRAL RESOURCE! Hence this section was
born. Rather than listing the event calendars alphabetically, we decided to list them in
order of completeness for the Western New York area. Our opinion of course.
The Hard-copy
Biker Event Calendars section was created to give you something to hold on
to. Online calendars are great but it's nice to have an actual calendar
that you can put on your desk, wall or fridge AND be able to pencil in your own
stuff too. Not to mention, they're great looking, cheap, AND you will be helping
out a good cause!

 | Saturday June 23, 2007 - "Dave
Barrows Benefit"
At the Jamison Road Firehall. Tickets are $25 and include a barbeque.
A good friend of ours has fallen on bad times. C. David Barrows has been
diagnosed with cancer. Recently, Dave went into the hospital for a routine
procedure and after performing a CT scan and was found to have a tennis ball
sized tumor on his brain. Dave underwent emergency surgery to have it
removed, but they were only able to remove about 75% of it because of its
location. To make matters worse, it tested positive for Glioblastoma
Multiforme, Stage IV. What does this mean? It means that the type of cancer
Dave has grows very aggressively and is difficult to treat successfully. He
spent many years riding with many local clubs, some that no longer exist.
Dave loved to ride! He's spent many years dirt bike riding both
professionally and on an amateur circuit. We are planning a fund raising
event and need your help with a donation of anything you feel you can or
wish to donate. Donations can be a monetary gift, merchandise, services,
crafts, foods, beverages or almost anything that you wish to donate. All
items will be used for Chinese auctions, raffles or to help supply the
benefit and all proceeds will go to the family to help them offset their
bills while they fight this terrible battle.. If you can HELP IN ANY
WAY please contact Pam Davis at 716-353-8198 or 716-307-9251.

 | Wednesday July 18, 2007 - "Ride
To Work Day"
Each work day more than eighty million cars and light trucks commute
on American roads, but only about 200,000 individuals regularly ride their
cycles to work."Ride to Work Day reveals that motorcyclists come from
all walks of life, work in all occupations, and range in age from teenagers
to grandparents." The American Motorcyclist Association and many other
worldwide rider organizations actively encourage all motorcyclists to ride
their cycles to work as a grassroots demonstration on the third Wednesday in
July each year. Many motorcycles are lightweight, efficient and consume less
resources per mile than typical automobiles. A motorcycle's size and
nimbleness advantages over cars and light trucks also means that adding more
of them to the daily transportation mix makes urban parking easier, reduces
road congestion and improves traffic flow. Experience consistently shows
that urban motorcyclists reach their destinations faster and are more alert
upon arrival than those using automobiles. Motorcycle Event. Don't forget to stop by after
work for Wednesday Bike Nites! More

Frank and Charles Menches, established a food concession stand at what was
to be later named the Erie County Fair. Their specialty was a sliced,
grilled sausage patty served on a round bun. Running out of sausage, they
sought a local butcher who only had ground beef readily available. They
mixed spices with the meat, including brown sugar and coffee, and made
pattied to fit the round buns. The coffee after-taste kept patrons returning
for more of this new sandwich. A local reporter, noting the excitement,
asked the brothers what this new sensation was called. Without much
hesitation, they named it the hamburger after the town they were in -

Drive Nostalgia Cruise"
From 10:30am 'til 12:00Noon, Sheridan Drive will once again be WNY's
cruising strip, as classic cars, street rods, muscle cars, custom cars, and
motorcycles cruise from Main Street to Sheridan Park, passing the former
site of Pat's Hot Dog's, WNY's equivalent of Happy Days' Arnold's Drive-In.
(As a bit of trivia, that site, on the corner of Sheridan Drive and Parker
Boulevard in Tonawanda, is now the site of a Walgreen's Pharmacy.) All
cruisers are invited to join the cruise, and all non-cruisers are invited to
get their lawn chairs and watch the cruise. After the cruise, everyone is
invited to a party in Sheridan Park, where there will be a BBQ,
entertainment, health screening information, a 50/50 drawing, and other
raffles. One of the raffles will be a "Year Of Dining" raffle;
this is a package of 12 @ $25.00 Gift Certificates from Western New York's
best restaurants! Tickets are $5.00/each, $20.00/5 tickets. One lucky person
will win the entire package, and the winner need not be present!! All
proceeds from this event will be used to purchase equipment for the WNY
Stroke Center at Millard Fillmore Gates Hospital. Sunday, September 9, 2007,

Although Cyberspokes is a "Virtual" Motorcycle Club, our
Unofficial meetings take place every second Thursday of the month 5:30 at a

and in our thoughts. This month's location is at Shirley's Bar (across from

that! It's a real informal thang. Sometimes 20 of us show up and sometimes 5
of us show up, but it's always a good time. Stop by, toss $20 on the pile on
the bar and $1 for lotto. Not only will you have a good time but you could

Night”, downtown developer Mark Croce has once again set his sights on
reinventing the meaning of a midweek downtown gathering. Dubbed “Hog Wild
Wednesdays”, the Smokehouse has teamed up with the wildly popular
motorcycle publication Hard Tales Magazine to create a weekly event that
will be exciting for both the casual rider as well as seasoned life long
bikers. These nights will be a great way for anyone who appreciates the
craftsmanship and artistic beauty of a fine motorcycle to enjoy all the
displays in the Smokehouse's expansive outdoor covered patio, stage and
indoor/outdoor dining areas. The Kick-Ass Bar-B-Que also comes along for the
ride. Besides live music, great food, drink specials, free admission
and off-street preferred motorcycle parking -right in the private lot
outside the Smokehouse, we are told that some of the regular features of Hog
Wild Wednesdays are displays from local and national bike builders,
manufacturers, product demos, celebrity appearances, clothing and accessory
vendors, contests, tons of prizes and lots of free stuff! In the tradition
of the “over the top” excitement Mark is famous for, there are even
rumors of the county's only rooftop bike show, (lookout Skybar!). What's
next, a buckin’ motorcycle ride? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. It’s
gonna be crazy! It all rolls into downtown beginning May 16, 2007. We
will be filming every Hog Wild Wednesday for the new Hog Wild TV show on
Cable Channel 8. Watch Friday nights at 1:30 AM starting June 1st. So keep
smiling! Checkout Cyberspokes.com for more info. If
your business or organization would like to get involved with Hog Wild
Wednesdays, please contact Hard Tales Magazine at 716-725-2745 or email hardtalesmag@aol.com.
*And for a limited time, we are also allowing any businessperson to stop in
and we will film a little segment about them for the HOG
WILD TV show FREE, no obligation! |
