ABATE of New York provides the neutral ground which allows us to stand beside
and support each other in unity, to safeguard our rights and to be individuals
with different views. A concept that we are united with a common interest and
now a common ground on which to stand. There are approximately 2400 members in
ABATE at this time and many thousands nation wide. We are not a "Motorcycle
Club", rather a Not For Profit Corporation. Whether you wear a patch,
any patch, or ride independently, your "Right-To-Ride" is our agenda,
our goal, our only concern. In order to remain fair and objective, we will
not endorse any one club, group, or organization. Likewise, we will not
discriminate against the same. WE are working for ALL BIKERS!
Anyone interested in motorcycling may attend our meetings. We don't all ride
motorcycles, but the majority of us do share this interest. To find a chapter
near you give us a call with a location of where you live and we
will point you in the right direction.
The main purpose of the ABATE organization is to work toward
continued freedom of the road by insuring that motorcyclists' point of view is
presented to our legislators and to promote motorcycle safety, rider education,
and awareness. We are trying to alleviate the very real possibility of "Big
Brother Government". We encourage all our members to be informed,
registered voters. We write letters to our elected officials and stay aware of
what is going on with motorcycle legislation, education and other transportation
issues. "New Rider" education classes with certified safety
instructors are currently being offered by some New York State chapters.
ABATE of New York currently has 25 chapters throughout the
state. We welcome interested persons to any of our activities or to join our
organization. Some of the examples of what we've been doing: Toy Runs, Poker
Runs, Family Picnics, lobbying in Washington, letter writing campaigns, meeting
with our legislative representatives in Albany.
